Get a German SIM / mobile plan

A German mobile number makes everything easier — banks, delivery services and Behörden expect one. Prepaid SIMs require passport identification (PostIdent/video).

  1. 1Choose prepaid or contract and register

    Prepaid is fastest to start (identify with your passport via video or at a post office). Contracts are cheaper long-term but usually want your IBAN and Meldebescheinigung.
